Bamboo Forest

A short ride from Kyoto took us to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest; a serene nature walk that was well worth the visit. Follow the flocks of visitors of all ages from the station, or the signs on the ground (in which the Japanese characters helpfully look like trees).

Despite it being a popular tourist attraction, it felt remarkably spacious when compared to visits to Temples in the area, and the air was fresh and clean. Look out for the vendors selling dried Sharon fruit along the way, they are well worth a buy.
